Lieutenant Commander Frank McAdams. My father in his Navy Class A uniform, circa 1946, while still being treated at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital. As commanding officer of the LSM–201 he suffered serious wounds on October 21, 1944, the second day of the Leyte invasion in the Philippines. The nerves in his right arm never responded. The arm was amputated below the elbow in 1950. (Frank McAdams)

Mrs. Irene McAdams. My mother imparted her lifelong triangular doctrine on each of us: you get out of this life what you put into it; if you start something, finish it; and don’t ever be called a quitter. I still hear her words. (Frank McAdams)
